If you have not guessed already, I was born in sunny Spain but I live in vibrant Dublin. I left Spain 7 years ago, where I lived in Madrid and Toledo. I studied a degree in Education and got my Masters in Linguistics to teach Spanish as a second language. I have been working as a secondary school teacher, evening language courses for adults and teaching grinds as a private tutor.
I love everything about Spain: the culture, the food, the people, the architecture, and of course… our language. Teaching Spanish is my passion and it connects me to my home country despite living abroad. I feel very happy seeing how many people want to learn Spanish internationally.
As you know, I am a full-time Spanish teacher, but when I am not teaching, it is very likely you find me dancing, eating, enjoying life with friends, reading or traveling. Some of my favourite food includes cocido, jamón ibérico and tortilla de patata.
If I had to describe myself in three words as a teacher, this would be: eagle-eyed, patient and enthusiastic.
I have a curious mindset, I like to research about linguistics, neuroscience and where they overlap. Then I try to extrapolate from it to my classes and use it as a teaching tool.
Talking about tools, my years of experience designing digital resources has differenciated my graphics, visual classes and engaging materials from other educators.
That is one of the reasons why I wanted to freelance and build a start up, to teach doing it my way, as I believe education can be seen and taught from different prisms. As Phil Knight, the creator of Nike said when he quit his job and wanted to work on his business: «I want what everyone wants. To be me, full-time».
I am excited to bring you on the journey of becoming fluent en español. There is only one goal when learning a language and that is to speak it.
