I have recently returned from a 2week break in Fuengirola staying with friends so got opportunities for a bit of interaction in supermarkets, shops and restaurants.

Generally I think the locals appreciated my somewhat stilted attempts, though needless to say that their English was better than my Spanish. One waiter thought I was doing well, though sounding more Mexican than Scottish!

I think that both the content of your course and your approach to the teaching combined very well over the 10 weeks and has given me a sound basis for achieving both a basic comprehension and a start in communicating in Spanish. Specific highlights I feel were your insistence from the first lesson in trying out our verbal skills by trying to get us to ask questions in Spanish, and also by asking us questions, meaning that we had to concentrate hard to understand the sense and meaning. I feel that approach really helped me to at least get a basic level of interaction in shops.

The lesson involving role play in restaurants was a highlight, and again specifically useful in communicating in Spain.

If I had suggestions for future sessions, I would look for more of these real life scenarios, and targeted vocabulary/ grammar. I wonder also if maybe some guidance towards sources for practising might be useful.

Overall I want to say thank you for the course, and would be hopeful of getting onto a future course in the autumn.

I really enjoyed your classes. I used to teach English as a Foreign Language in France and London, so I know how much trouble you went to to plan interesting, fun and useful lessons. It can be hard to leave the fireside and go out on a winter’s night, but you made the classes so much fun that it was easy! You bring a very positive energy to the class, and you explain things really well – you are an excellent teacher

I attended Spanish classes with Rebeca which commenced in January 2023. To say I looked forward to her class each week would be an understatement. Her energy and enthusiasm was infectious. Even when I felt it was getting a little above my ability she had a way of gently nudging me forward. Rebeca is a born teacher. She also taught us about Spanish culture and I felt comfortable that I could ask her anything in relation to this. Did I mention the fun we had in class? Rebeca keeps everything fun while still progressing with lessons. The last night we had a fiesta where we all brought something Spanish to eat or drink which was a lovely end to our class.

I look forward to attending another term with Rebeca. 👍👍
